Remote work is relatively new for many. Those that have never worked remotely usually ask us the same question: Are remote jobs worth it? We started NoCommute because we strongly believe that remote jobs are worth it. So here are the top six reasons we’re believers in remote work.

There’s no commuteCommuting is terrible. It’s stressful, expensive, and takes away from your interests outside of work. It makes employees less productive. There is literally no upside or anything to be gained from commuting. 

Are remote jobs worth it? Having no commute does make it worth it.

Remote work is worth it for so many because it eliminates the commute. For many, it means hours back in their day to spend with family, friends, or even a hobby. It puts money you’d otherwise spend on gas back in your pocket. And it makes most employees even more productive.

It increases the number of available opportunitiesBefore remote work, your employment options were limited. If no companies within commuting distance were hiring, you were stuck. Now, you can broaden your search to many more companies, not just the ones in driving distance. This drastically increases the number of jobs available, and you don’t even have to move to get one.

It’s safer1 out of 4 car accidents happen during commuting hours. By working remotely, you're skipping a commute that regularly puts you in danger. You’ll also avoid the illnesses that come with office life. Whether it’s a cold, the flu, or something more serious, you won’t get exposed to co-workers who are sick when you work remotely.

Avoid the office gossipWhen you’re not in the office, you won’t hear the office gossip. For us, this reason alone makes remote jobs worth it!

You’ll be more productiveRemote workers report that they’re about 10% more productive from home than they are in the office. Ditching the commute and the distractions in the office make it easier to get work done.

You’ll be happierStudies show that remote workers are happier than their counterparts who work in an office. The flexibility and freedom of remote work make it so much more attractive than in-office work. 

Are remote jobs worth it? When you can spend extra time with family as a result, it is.
